British Airliner Prototypes since 1945

(To be published by Midland Counties in 2008)

Synopsis

Stephen Skinner’s latest book is a highly-illustrated reference guide to the large number of airliner prototypes produced by the British Aircraft industry from the end of the Second World War up to the beginning of this century.

For each airliner there is an overview of its genesis and development supported by performance and production details. The author has provided a detailed history for each of the many prototypes with both colour and black & white photos, many of which have never previously been published. In addition there are profiles, plans and advertisements drawn from a wide variety of sources.

With the withdrawal of BAE Systems from airliner manufacturer in 2002 there is little possibility that there will be any more prototypes so this book charts the development and end of British-built airliner building via their prototypes.
